For bridal parties, getting ready can be one of the most exciting parts of the day. This is the time spent with your select group of friends, getting every detail perfect, having a good time, and indulging in the build-up to the happiest day of your life (including this bit!). Make the most of it with these useful tips.

  • Outfit prep

The first thing you should both do when you wake up is to take your suit or dress out of its plastic and hang it up somewhere to air out. Then, once some wrinkles have fallen out, you can give it a going over with the steamer later to freshen it up.

  • Play music

Both the groom and bride parties should be having as much fun as possible, so turn on the music and treat it like a night out preparation.

  • Time

Give yourselves more time than you think you’ll possibly need. You don’t want to be rushing for your wedding, and if that leaves you with bags of extra time, you can spend it on having a cocktail, having fun with your friends, and getting some extra photography shots in.

  • Eat, drink, and be merry

Speaking of cocktails, it’s okay to have one or two, but don’t go overboard pouring out the drinks. A safe limit for everybody would be around two small drinks, and plenty of food if they have any more. Put out a little spread, or prepare some breakfast for your friends, along with some champagne or other drinks to get the mood going. Make sure that if you’ve decided to drink, you definitely have something to eat too, even if you are feeling nauseous and anxious. Skipping breakfast would be a big no-no on your wedding day.

  • Lighting

Get ready in rooms which have plenty of light, so you can properly style yourself, your hair, and your make-up and add any finishing touches you need. If you have a professional helping you out, they will also require good lighting to do their job.

  • Photography

If you’ve got a professional photographer, it’s crucial for them to be snapping away during the getting ready process. This is a perfect time for candids, so make sure nobody is posing at this point, it’s all about keeping it natural here.

  • Gifts

Give out your gifts for bridesmaids and groomsmen once everyone is ready. This is also another excellent opportunity to get some photography in, while you are exchanging gifts.
